Even though we love a good DIY job, some home remodeling calls for a good contractor. Net offers some tips for finding a reputable person for the job, but we're curious: How do you find a reputable contractor?

Like finding a good car mechanic or pediatrician, you don't want to grab the first name you run across and hope for the best. Instead, gather referrals from friends and do some searching on the internet or local Yellow Pages. Then get some quotes.
I always get estimates from at least three contractors for every job that I've done. You'll be amazed at the price differences between them. Don't always go with the cheapest quote, just because it's the cheapest. Reputation should carry a lot of weight, especially if it is a difficult project.
Have you ever hired a contractor for your home projects?
